Implemented by EAVISION in collaboration with the Yazhou District Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Sanya and the Sanya Nanfan Research Institute of Hainan University, this project targeted 170 "Officially Registered Impoverished Households" across the villages and communities of Baogu, Beiling, Chicao, Fengling, Shuinan, Nanbin, and San'gongli. The operation covered 539.5 mu of betel nut orchards affected by the yellowing phenomenon. Drone control operations officially commenced on July 19, 2020.
Results & Recovery
Following emergency control measures, the overall yellowing phenomenon was significantly mitigated. Key pests—including the Coconut Leaf Beetle, Areca Spike Moth, and Scale Insects—were brought under effective control. Symptoms of Anthracnose and Bacterial Stripe were noticeably alleviated. Most trees severely damaged by Coconut Leaf Beetles began sprouting new heart leaves. The spread of stem rot was halted, and the foliage showed excellent re-greening.
Feedback from households was highly positive. Notably, growers who initially declined to participate proactively requested the service after observing the successful results in neighboring orchards.
